- The refined taste of Greenland
In South Greenland, which is considered to be the larder of the country, lies the town of Narsaq and our slaughterhouse, Neqi. ‘Neqi’ is the Greenlandic word for meat.
Greenland lamb is considered by many to be among the best in the world, and with good reason. The quality of the meat matches the animals' living conditions. The animals live in the wild in vast areas of untouched nature, in the company of birds, mountain hares and arctic foxes, who somehow manage to find food for themselves all year round.
This is where the large flocks of sheep and lambs wander freely over mountain and meadow, where they feed on grass, willow twigs, tender birch branches, dwarf bushes and arctic herbs. They are, in other words, naturally seasoned all their lives. The animals get plenty of exercise, drink only pure, mineral-rich water from streams and lakes, and are protected against disease and pollution by the abundance of space, and by Greenland's isolation from the rest of the world.
That's why Greenland can boast some of the world’s best, purest and tastiest food products. It just doesn’t get better than this.
